CharTeas - Tea Brand Review

Updated: Jun 1, 2020

Introduction about CHAR Teas:

CHAR Teas is one of the tea companies out there that like to provide a wide range variety of teas within a market that is typically on mid-range pricing range. They are based in the UK and only have one shop located in Winchester, United Kingdom. They have an online website and physical shop you can visit, you can order from their website and they will ship it to wherever as well which is pretty nice! CHAR Teas has got your back if you want to dive into the wide range and variety of tea whilst providing great quality and service to their teas and company as a whole. They offer a wide range and variety of teas, teawares, and gifts both on their website and in-shop.

CHAR Teas has a very easy to read and use website. Its clean, fast and simple making it easier for any tea buyer out there whether they know a lot about tea or not use it just the same! However I myself have visited their shop several times in the past and it's a cozy, warm and lovely little shop to be in! The smell in there is just like heaven, but the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere feels nice in there due to the fact that they hand package all of their goods and ship them right in front of your eyes which actually brings the attitude of a homemade business into place.

On their website, they have the usual guide of finding teas based on type, origin or format which is helpful to those out there who may need a bit of assistance in finding the type that they want.

My personal journey with CHAR Teas/the quality of their teas:

Personally for me, CHAR Teas was actually one of the first companies that got me into the next stage of buying tea based on its kind rather than blends from other companies like T2. CHAR Teas opened that gateway for me in finding teas that I enjoy and gave me plenty of options to help me choose from what teas I liked best over others. For me, one of my teas I bought from them was another fruit blend called "Old Love" and I loved it so much! But after diving into fruit teas I began to go into other different types of teas, blacks, greens, oolongs, and my favourite tea now Puerh!

Onto the quality now of, CHAR's Teas, I think overall as a whole the company offers very fairly priced tea in a good quantity of on average around 100 grams with having the quality at in my opinion around average - above average. Their quality is great, but for me, as an experienced tea buyer nowadays it's not the best I have tasted BUT with that being said, any regular tea drinker will love this place and their teas. In my opinion, one of the things I love about the tea they provide is that the quality is better than what most would think especially if coming into loose leaf as a beginner.

Pricing and Packaging thoughts:

The pricing for CHAR's Teas as a whole is very good in my opinion, they have good prices all around for all of their teas which is great for vivid tea beginners out there who want to get into tea as loose leaf is in some cases actually cheaper than tea bag brands and this is a clear example of a company selling at a low price point with great quality!

For most of their teas, on average I would say roughly for around 100g it can anywhere from £4 - £9 which for 100 grams is a lot of tea for the price! However please do take into account that this is an estimate overall, some of their teas that they sell, Puerh, for example, are on average above £10 but for a cake, it could be anywhere from £15 - £30.

Onto their packaging, overall it's great, nearly all of their teas come in sealable bags with the sticker on the front giving information about the tea inside and instruction to brew it as well! What's nice to have is a resealable bag or container for teas so that it's airtight to keep its flavour for longer and CHAR Teas already hooks you up with a perfect package for storing your tea! On top of that, they also offer caddies and tea containers that are great for gifts to give to anyone and also help protect your teas to keep for longer!

My thoughts on the brand's values/purpose:

CHAR Teas as a brand overall is a very good tea company that in my opinion is very trustworthy and honorable to the tea market and industry purely for a few reasons. Firstly, most of their teas if not all are organic except a few meaning that the quality and taste are vastly better than those that are not and more manufactured made. Secondly, the brand as a whole revolves around a family business expanding and growing which makes the overall company as a whole a lot more down to earth and fair to their customers rather than a big conglomerate tea company. Finally, the brand as a whole has several rules that they follow when buying, trading and selling tea that they make sure no abuse to tea farmers or cruelty in underpaying workers or overworking goes on within their company in terms of where they buy the tea from.

Overall this review so far has been very positive, and that's because this company is very good for selling tea however the only things I would like to mention, is that the quality of their teaware is not great, and in fact, most of it is more china products that are cheap. Also, most of their teas are actually blends and some have flavourings in them which is not a bad thing but doesn't add to the organic approach of their company, hence as I said earlier not all teas are organic but most are.

Overall conclusion:

CHAR Teas as a whole is a great tea brand out there that offers a wide variety of teas at a low cost with an above-average quality in their teas. For those out there who want to try new teas and gain more of a sense for the variety of them, I highly recommend buying from CHAR Teas!

I hope you enjoyed my review of CHAR Teas and learned a little bit more about them today!

Rating:

I am rating CHAR Teas at a 4.5/5 tea cups!
